QTC’s new offices are three levels of 111 Eagle St in the CBD. Part of that relocation was to provide all the technology required to support daily QTC operations, provide spaces to further support its clients and create a workspace for its staff that was functional and effortless. The project scope included meeting rooms, shared spaces, training rooms, and digital signage.

The Challenge

QTC needed a new approach to technology. They needed all the ‘bells and whistles’ but wanted it to be simple and easy to use. Previously, complexity had inhibited wide spread adoption of its AV systems. QTC was looking for a partner that would not only provide installation services during the relocation project, but provide ongoing management of its systems. All the AV services are fully integrated with QTC’s ICT network. This provides an additional layer of visibility and support that previously was not available.

The Solution

There is a consistency throughout all rooms of QTC now that provides a level of comfort to users. Once someone is comfortable using one room, they can use any room. With the assistance of the services consultants WSP, Videopro created rooms that were intuitive and simple for the user without compromising functionality. Each space is functional and engaging. The project was designed by WSP, and after being awarded the project, Videopro engaged with key stakeholders of QTC to better understand their requirements, desires and previous frustrations. From this, the solution continued to evolve.

At the same time, the Videopro project delivery team worked with Shape during the build process to work through any site-specific requirements as they arose. This collaboration with Shape and its team yielded a spectacular build and finish. The ultimate desire was to use collaboration technology to enable QTC to better service its clients. This is being realised every day. The use of Crestron Fusion provides visibility of equipment and reports that assist the decision-making process regarding maintenance. This and the proactive management and ongoing evolution of the rooms will mean these rooms are fit for purpose now and into the future.

QTC’s communication plan on the new office generated a lot of excitement. As a result of this engagement, more than 70% of its staff completed technology training. There were several small issues that arose during the build process and the overall construction timeline was compressed. Through communication between the builder, client, consultants, and Videopro we were able to adapt and overcome any difficulties. This was partly due to the fact we were all aligned on the overall goal to create a space for QTC that we could all be proud of.
