Recently completed, the JCU Cairns construction project includes a three-storey multi-functional building in addition to a separate single-storey ancillary/support building with a gross floor area of about 3546sq m. This project was successfully completed during the pandemic when interstate travel was impossible.
This project has a heavy focus on technology and its use is demonstrated both internally and externally to the building. Projectors on both the east and north external walls show JCU content whist inside the main atrium has a large LED video wall. Teaching spaces like the electronics lab have student collaboration displays where other spaces demonstrate a more traditional projection system for content sharing. Meeting rooms have room booking panels. The atrium has a PS4 connected to the large LED panel for student testing. The complete building AV is run from the one comms room on Level 2. Videopro had experience with both Watpac and JCU which made the delivery easier.
The project had complex outdoor projection where Videopro was able to assist with suitable mounting and engineering designs throughout the project. Videopro has also had a lot of experience in outdoor projection and complex LED walls. The project was run over an extensive period of time and through the COVID pandemic, making interstate travel impossible. Videopro stepped into Manufacturers commissioning roles to complete the project on time for both JCU and Watpac despite the pandemic.
